My favorite book July 11, 2010 Guitar Player (Phoenix, AZ) This is my favorite guitar handbook for beginners. It covers all the basic chords, string, and fingerings. It will have you playing simple songs in no time.
Great Stuff. June 1, 2010 J. Withrow (Dallas, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The reasons I bought it have become what I like best about it. Actually, the fact that it had the plastic spiral comb binding, was cheap, and was 3 in one were the biggest factors in buying this over other products. I really like the binding--as a guitar instructor, it just makes things easier. I hate having to try and keep the book open during lessons.
So, I've only gone through the book myself up to the point where you've learned all six strings in first position, and are beginning to use eighth notes and C#. I would hate this without the CD (it would be incredibly boring and you wouldn't have a musical context), but with the CD I really enjoy it! It's definitely a book for middle school on up. I wouldn't recommend it for younger learners.
It's great stuff, and keeps a fast pace for learning!
Good Stuff April 19, 2010 Baxter Best starters book evar... teaches you at a good place, you learn sheet music at the same time. Always learn sheet music first!
Very quick delievery April 8, 2010 Andrew C. Hammond 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
The book arrived very quickly to us in Doha. I am very impressed by the turn around in ordering the book and it being delievered.
Good for Beginners March 29, 2010 L.Kas (Baltimore, MD) I have found this book to be very helpful in teaching myself how to play the guitar. I already knew how to read music, but if you don't already know this book does provide instruction on those basics. I like that it comes with a CD so you can hear the songs in the book being played. This is really helpful on some of the songs I am not familiar with.
